CONFIDENTIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO SUPERVISORS
SPECICMEN PAPER
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING APPARATUS
These instructions give details of the apparatus/equipment required by each candidate for each
practical test in this paper. A summary of the questions that will be presented to the candidates is
included where appropriate, to allow the Agriculture teacher to prepare the apparatus/equipment
appropriately. No access to the question paper is permitted in advance of the examination
session. If a candidate breaks any of the apparatus/equipment or loses any of the material supplied,
the matter should be rectified and a note made in the Report Form.
Supervisors are advised to remind candidates that all substances in the examination should be treated
with caution. Safety gloves and/or goggles should be used where necessary.
A hazards appraisal of the examination has been carried out.
The following codes are used where relevant:

20 g Ammonium nitrate per candidate,
20 g compound fertiliser per candidate,
50 g loam soil per candidate,
4 x 50 ml measuring cylinders per candidate,
3 medium funnels per candidate,
1 digital scale per 2 candidates,
3 filter paper per candidate,
1 potted bean plant with at least 6 leaves per candidate,
2 domestic electrical fans,
Electronic balance,
1 stop watch per candidate,
Digital pH meter.
