PAPER 3: Design on paper/Imaginative Composition in colour

This paper should be given to candidates two weeks before the examination date.

TIME 6 hours

INSTRUCTIONS TO SUPERVISORS
This paper is for use by the Art teacher and the candidates.

Attention is directed to the syllabus and the General Instructions as given in the O- Level syllabus Art
2015-2022.

In the design section, the use of mechanical aids is allowed with the exception of computers,
commercial stencils and lettraset rub-offs.

Any appropriate technique and medium is allowed, for example: printing, collage, wax resist, pen and
ink, water and poster colour, folded and cut-out paper.

INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
Answer one question only from either Section A or Section B.
Y ou are free to use any media or combined media of your choice, with the exception of oil paint.

Y our preparatory workbook for the chosen theme should be handed in for assessment with the final
examination work.

This question paper consists of 3 printed pages and 1 blank page.

Answer one question from either Section A or Section B. SECTION A: DESIGN ON PAPER 1. Design a sticker to be placed on the door panel of a car encouraging discipline to motorists, with a caption, ‘Speed thrills but kills! Use a maximum of four colours

including red.

2. Design a DVD cover for a DVD documentary entitled, ‘The Youth and Dating!
Include a suitable illustration. The size of the DVD must not be bigger than A4.

3. Design a poster for an upcoming talent show under the theme, ‘Let me fly; which
promote child protection and gender sensitivity. The poster should be approximately
A3 size.
4, Using a suitable calligraphic script, write the following poem. Use a suitable
illustration and/or border:
I’m not old
I woke up,

1 lifted my arms,
I moved my knees,

I turned my neck...
Everything made the same noise:
‘Crirrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaacccck!’
Tam not old,

Tam crispy!

5. Design a motif for a regular repeat pattern on a table cloths to be used at campaign

functions for the preservation of indigenous fruits. Use any type of repeat of not less
than six (6) repeats, design the table cloth pattern.
